Visit to Faith Wesleyan Church

Faith Wesleyan was the church my dad pastored 20 years ago in Greensboro North Carolina. I attended this church from the time i was born until i was five when we moved to California. It was great to reconnect with old friends and to retrace old steps.
The parsonage we lived in growing up.
The weekend went great. I was able to speak to the youth on Saturday and Sunday night about missions and even had a friend call so they could ask questions to Tash in New Zealand over the phone.
I was also able to speak to the Sunday schools that collectively about what it means to be in missions as they came together in the sanctuary for the first hour.
The second hour i was able to share with the church about my ministry and to challenge the congregation from 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 about focusing on the unseen.

The church was very welcoming and generous and this was a trip well worth it.
The youth group was great. They even invited me to go see Vantage Point with them on Saturday night at the theaters. It was an interesting action movie that seemed like it was over way too quick!
This is the teens trying marmite (a bitter spread like veggiemite that the Australians & Kiwis put on their toast)
I personally think it is amazingly gross. Some said it tasted like coffee, vitamins, etc, but others actually like it.

The heart of the Wesleyan Church

Over the next 10 days I will have the chance to visit with many friends on the East Coast. I look forward to sharing God's call on my life, meet new people, visit with my relatives, and see how God moves.

I am also REALLY looking forward to the possibility of meeting up with 2 different people at Asbury Seminary on my way out.
1. Joe Dongell- is my dad's cousin who is a highly regarded and respected professor at Asbury who i have heard a lot about but never met. I hope to meet him and his family on this trip.
2. Richard Waugh and his family. Richard Waugh is over in the US for a year getting his doctorate. He is the head of the Wesleyan Methodist church of New Zealand and is originally from there.

I love Richard's heart for the gospel and the Wesleyan church. When i hear of him speak of his vision of the Wesleyan church being a place of diversity and believers pushing and cheering each other to becoming the most like Christ that we possibly can through our love, openness, and devotion to one another and God, i get excited. I appreciate his fresh perspective on what the Wesleyan church and body of Christ can be instead of focusing on what it is not and the things that we shouldn't be doing. He is a man of discipline and vision and i am excited to work with him in the development of the national Wesleyan church of New Zealand.

Michigan Trip

This weekend i am heading up to connect with friends, family, and people that i spent time with in the fall. This will be a time where i will be very intentional about asking people to come on board and support me as well, so your prayers are appreciated at this point and as you think of me over this weekend!
